Craziest of course was the Subaru 360 which was sold in the U.S. from 1968 through 1970. Two cylinder, two-stroke, 360cc, rear-engine car with 10" wheels.
The main thing I remember about the Subarus I owned was their reliability. Those cars may have been homely and slow but they rarely needed anything other than normal maintenance. (No timing belts or head gasket issues on the old pushrod boxer engines.) Sold both of them to friends who kept them for years until the bodies rusted out. (My next car after the 1980 Subaru GL was a new 1985 Saab 900.)
