How much room do you need? I have a '14 XV. I really like it. Especially with all the snow we've been getting here recently. I have the 5spd manual. The engine could use more oomph but I got the hang of it and can get it to hustle pretty well. It handles really well and rides nice. The whole "driving a slow car fast is fun" thing. It is way quieter than an Impreza wagon. I attribute it to different tires and maybe the ride height difference. Gas mileage since its been very cold has dropped to around 26/27 combined. I was getting 30+ in warmer weather. Thin air/weakish engine? I do have a heavy foot though. I find it very comfortable on long trips. I don't like that Subaru and some others seem to be forcing the death of manual transmissions. Theyre often only available on base models many times leaving you unable to get some options you may want. I would have gone for leather if i could have. Way easier to keep clean with dogs. I'll probably go for an Outback when my Durango (love it)lease is up. Better mileage and I need more room than the XV for vacation trips now that theres a third dog. I had an '01 WRX that, save for a quickly fixed trans issue early on, was trouble free for three years and 45k miles. I've had one issue with the low oil light on the XV that they said is an overly sensitive sensor that will be fixed with a reflash. We'll see.
