Exactly. Even my new Ford F150 with a 5.4L specifies a 0W oil. I think that low-end viscosity number is strictly for fleet mileage and has nothing to do with cold weather protection in most climates. Unfortunately the lubrication system is designed around viscosity so you can't deviate much but I would always err on the higher viscosity side for better temp/stress protection. I can afford $ for the near negligible increase in personal mileage. Plus there is some unnerving chatter on the BOB board about possible loss of dry start film protection on some parts you can get from shutting down a hot engine with less than top quality 0W syn. No thanks. JMO
