Stop worrying about cold starts, start worrying about sludge. The things you need to look at are breakdown/sludging characteristics of M1 0W40 vs 5W40 at high temperatures / lots of blow-by gas / extended intervals. Your cheapo oil analysis does not do this, but I bet Saab researched the topic all over the place after the sludging fiasco - and recommended 0w40.
By the way, MB requires M1 0w40 in most of their cars too.
