When stranded.... Sorry forgot to mention: when stranded and I turn the key to start, I can hear the starter "clunk" but no cranking at all, lights on dash go out, nothing else. I did swap the starter as a test, no change.
Also..... after getting back from being stranded (car started fine after a few hours), I then left it in the sun for a "replicant hot test" at home, but after a few hours it started fine. HOWEVER, then I turned on brights and attempted to start: same "no start" as above (lights out, no crank at all). So I suspect my battery was "low" but not totally flat.
So, once again, is my alternator not giving enough charge, or another bad ground somewhere? I did try pulling several fuses to isolate down if maybe some sensor was blocking the starter, but in all those tests it would still crank. The only "it won't crank" scenario was just after recovering it with headlights on.
Now on this cool morning in the garage, with all those accessories on (previous message - testing voltage with aux load and no load): it will still crank and start (albeit a bit slower cranking).
