There is such thing as over boost and you can cause your self headaches in terms of engine repairs (head gasket, etc.), not to mention the autoboxes on these 9000s are simply not strong enough for the torque of standard boost IMHO. If you don't mind the chance that you will burn up your AT or head gasket, you can do what you want.
I haven't been a regular visitor here over the last couple years, but I have never heard of pulling a fuse to increase performance. If it was simply fooling your computer into thinking it was a manual for some reason, it would stand to reason that manual drivers could run their boost to the end of the red all the time. I can't say for fact that this isn't the case, but it seems to me that it is doing more than playing "pretend five speed".
