Eastern Sierra, Mammoth, or at least California somewhere I will assume. Ya'see "Caleefornia" is not a serious snow state. Where it snows seriously and folks mount snow tires there's not much of an advantage to AWD vs FWD.

But in California if you have AWD you don't have to mount chains which is a very convienent advantage. Takes as little as 20 minutes to get to the desert from the Eastern Sierra so the snow thing is very part time even if you're in the thick of it.

Couple of thoughts: a 2008 Saab AWD 9-3, or if Subaru it is, how'bout a WRX or maybe even a real 9-2X Aero? A WRX/9-2X Aero is one helluva' car! Some of the newer larger Legacy body cars also have the 250ish hp 2.5 too, and they ain't too bad looking. Even a Forrester comes with the 2.5 turbo.
