Oil light and red exclamation beep at low rpms :(

Well, after the horrible fiasco with the dealer and body shop, it seems I have bigger problems
The car is overfilled to the point where the plastic "guage" on the dip stick is coming out completely covered up to the wire that holds it.
I drove the car about a mile, and again around the block after I got it back today, and the oil light didn't start to come on until the end of the drive. I revved the engine at idle a few times, and noticed what seemed to be the light going off and beeping stopping on rev. I can't put my finger on it, but the engine doesn't sound exactly right either. I've also been noticing a very faint and intermittent knocking or gurgling noise at idle which I have been trying to track down without success.
So, how bad do you all think it is this time? I suppose I shouldn't even start the car again until I have an idea of what's causing the oil light or especially if there really is low oil pressure. Can overfilling cause any oil light issues?
Thanks for any ideas!
Nicholas
