Take a deep breath and relax.
First, I suspect that if you wanted to do so, and have the funds, you could stay in school for another semester and take only courses that might interest you.
There are tons of folks out there who never worked a day in their college major. My degree was in Physics (BA). Masters in Russian Studies. So I played soldier for a while, and now I peddle synthetic oil.
Three daughters:
Oldest had degree in political science from UVA. She worked for the Japanese embassy a while, and now works for an insurance company.
Second had degree in communications from UVA. She started by working in a dentists office until she went to play soldier for 6 months. Then she worked for a company which fills spray cans. Then she was a housewife in Switzerland for a year. Then to another doctor's office. Now she is working for the state of Nebraska.
Youngest was ready to start teaching. Had a knee operation (Saab was totalled). Started working for a neighbor in temporary position at Government Affairs office in DC. Three mergers/buyouts later, she is working for a major pharmacutical company, stationed in NY City.

But you've got one thing right! You probably aren't going to be able to change the world, at least in the first 30-60 days.
And just wait until you see the actual pay check from the $5K a month job, after state, local, federal and social security taxes, plus what ever else comes out (like medical).
