I Agree!!! 1. Have fun with the ladies at college. There is no greater concentration of attractive, single, young women than on a college campus. Well, spring break in daytona, but hey. Enjoy it.
2. Use all career resources you can. Does your school have a placement office? Do they help with mock interviews, resume polishing, and having companies come to campus? Use craigslist, dice, monster, and all the others. Do you know *anyone* in the field you're interested in? Call 'em.
3. Biggest one. TRAVEL THE WORLD. I got a railpass and backpack and went to europe for 6 weeks when I graduated. By far, that trip is one of the highlights of my life. If I had to do it all over again, I'd keep going through Russia, down to India, all over Asia, into SE Asia, the pacific Islands, the over to South America. Personally, I'd avoid North Africa and the Middle East, but I have an american passport. Put a Canadian flag on your backpack. :) Here's where you need to think like an Aussie. Find a Round the world ticket, sell a bunch of your junk, and plan to live with your folks a little while when you return. You can stretch a little money a long way with youth hostels and hangin' with Aussies and Kiwis. Seriously, this is the opportunity of a lifetime. You'll get home, get into the 9-5 grind (or in my case, the 60+ hour a week grind), and you'll get a standard crappy 2 week vacation deal. Maybe 3 if you're lucky. The next time you can take a month, or 6 months to travel is when you're too old to go on a massive adventure. Once you earn some $$$ your tastes will get better, too. I stayed in a youth hostel in Amsterdam at 27, no way. Do this trip while you're still into the college lifestyle.
See the world. Drink the beer. Experience the culture. Meet some women. Get lost in cites and small towns. Learn some phrases and enjoy!
Cheers!
Randy
