When I was a teenager, my good friend Eddie got a brand new Chevy Camaro RS from his Dad for graduation. We rode all over in that car, then Eddie decided it needed some "tuning". We had no idea what we were doing, but we disassembled the entire car... took out the engine, transmission, removed the suspension, exhaust, etc. The whole car was eventually laid out in Eddie's garage.
That took a whole summer, and I went off to college. Then Eddie tried to put it all back together. He got as far as getting the suspension and rear end back on, with tougher springs and a hopped up rear end, but then couldn't get the tranny or engine to fit properly. Broke the tranny case and the oil pan. He tried to put on hotter heads, and screwed up the pushrods. Finally, after months of frustration, he rolled the car out of the garage at 2am, and had a friend help him push it behind a supermarket where he set the car on fire. Then, as he was at a phone booth reporting the car missing, the cops came upon the car, spotted him, and took him back to the police station. Charged him with all sorts of crimes.
The car was a total wreck, the insurance company refused to pay anything, and Eddie did a few months in the county jail. Last thing I heard he was working as a cook at the local college.
