Decided my valve covers on my Scout II needed some paint touch-up and new gaskets. Pulled all the spark plug wires off the distributer and block. Oops, forgot to mark them. Took me several days to locate someone with the correct firing order and wire locations for this discontinued truck....
Same car; had a hot rod magazine that showed "easy" modifications to the quadrajet carb. Decided to give it a try... Black smoke, studdering and backfiring was the end result. Embarrasing tow to a real mechanic to retune the carb.
Suzuki Samurai: Messing around one day my friend and I decided to see if 31" tires from his jeep would fit on my sammy. They fit fine on the rear, but rubbed the bumper on the front. Somehow managed to strip a lug on the rear trying to take the big tire off. Had to switch back to the small ones on the front and leave the rear ones on so I could take it to the shop to get the stripped stud out... embarrassing driving down the road like that....
