I actually feel bose sucks & is VERY overprised!!!! If you want a small satalite system with a sub there are MUCH better options usually a LOT cheaper! I sold Bose several years ago & I always felt the SQ is & was horrible! VERY cheap quality in the actual speakers. I think it's all in the name.

Reveiver wise, Onkyo, Denon, Yamaha are all excellent options. All 3 are very similar in design & SQ so I would suggest getting whatever you think is the easiest to use. I sold Denon equiptment thus I have a old Denon AVR3000 which is a pro-logic unit which has been flawless in 12+ years of use. I will replace it with another Denon someday but it sucks not getting employee discounts any longer :o(

Speaker wise Polk, Infinity are 2 great choices however you definantly need to go to a local stereo shop & listen to the speakers in your price range. You can look at 10 manufacturers of speakers all in the same price range with completely different SQ. It just depends on what you want & the type of music you listen to. I personally do not like the SQ of the satelite with sub kits like the Bose AM-5 or whatever they call it now. Every system I have listened to like this has the bass & the high frequencies however the bidbass is VERY lacking. I think your are better off getting the best speakers you can afford & skimping or skipping other parts iof the system untill you ca afford it
