That is a pretty diverse selection! I've lived in Trinity Park area and now live in South Durham nearly in Chapel Hill. It's off Pope/Ephesus Church if you're familiar with that area; actually in Durham country but not city.
Trinity Park is certainly an interesting area, and as Durham improves the house could (maybe) be a good investment. I know what you mean by lack of driveways and garages. The place has character, but the crime rate is pretty bad (even the nice houses are pretty close to "bad neighborhoods"). Social options are limited to the area around Duke but are generally okay.
I really like where I live now. I'm probably closer to Chapel Hill than Durham, but the property values are still reasonable. CH is a very enjoyable town. I used to commute to RTP, which was fine along either 54 or I40, and now commute to downtown Durham, which isn't bad either.
Woodcroft is close to me and seems very nice. This whole area is very safe and pleasant, but more "suburban" feeling than the likes of Trinity Park, which may or may not be a good thing depending on what you are looking for.
If I run across any places for sale, I'll certainly let you know. Best of luck in your search!
Craig
