Hey Turrbo, I'm at BC right now, just finished my sophomore year. Alot of my friends have the BC ThinkPad package. It seems to work pretty well for most people, though I would warn you against buying the school-provided printer if at all possible. I know several people who were unfortunate enough to rely on that printer, only to have it break at the wrong time or never work in the first place. The laptop itself seems to be pretty reliable (we spilled a screwdriver in my roommate's this past year and he got himself a new Powerbook) but the IT support here at BC seems to be spotty at best, and you may be better served by getting an ironclad off-campus warranty if you are local and have access to a car. Your thoughts on the WaveRadio seem logical in a house setting, but in the dorms here at BC there are plenty of places to put your speakers where they dont take up desk space, since most desks have study carels or shelves attached.
The "system requirements" that BC lists on its website are also debatably BS as well. Last year they told everybody they would have to upgrade to XP Pro to be compatible with the network, but I still run XP Home, and I seem to be online since I'm writing this to you. The campus and academic buildings are pretty much covered with wireless reception, though some of the dorms may not be. I'm sure there are a whole load of things I'm forgetting, but feel free to e-mail me if you have any other questions about BC.
P.S. - Don't be heartbroken if you live on Newton Campus, its really a pretty nice place.
