Lawrence:
Great idea with the 'check valve'! The more info the better, much appreciated.
First thing I thought of after reading your post, was something like the exhaust vent on the outside of a house for an oven hood. I'm sure I could fashion some sort of flap that will close once the fans are shut off.
I've been wanting to do a theatre for some time now, and I just picked up an issue of Robb Report's Home Entertainment. Absolutely amazing stuff in there...that's what really gave me the push on this.
I just convinced the wife that we now need in-ceiling speakers in the living room, master bedroom, dining room and bathrooms, with an on/off/volume switch in each. That will actually be an easy task since it's a ranch style home with a full attic, so all the wires can drop right down the walls. Going to get one of those Niles speaker distribution units to feed off of one amp. Not looking for great dynamic sound up there, but more or less just ambience without having to see speakers all over the place.
I'll keep you posted on how it all comes out and will have some photos once it's all done :)
