yeah, they use electricity
so does the A/C, the home theater, so do refrigerators and lights
they only use as much electricty as necessary, but you do have to adjust the humidistat seasonally
the noise shouldn't be a problem for cryptical, it's in a separate room
yeah, I messed up with the Tyvek suggestion, but stand by the humidifier suggestion. No other insulation around components, no attempt at a vapor barrier. With a dehumidifier, you could even leave the back open (at least top and bottom) and not worry about forced ventilation around components
