that post-WWII American culture is much more oriented towards leisure and comfort as well as that damned planned obsolescence than most other places in the world. We have not cultured our selves and our cars for concentrated performance of European cars or unbeatable durability and reliability of Asian cars. The reason why we feel the way we do about the cars made here is because we can see the faults in our logic, but yet can’t change anything about it because it is such a rudimentary part of the post-WWII tradition in America. Believe me other auto producing countries see the faults in their logic too. Why do you think Big American cars were all the rage among the affluent in Japan in the 1980’s?
