is more a function of gearing. The fact that on the highway at cruising speed the engine is at near idle rpm means it'll turn in great gas mileage.
Of course without the low end performance the car could never handle that.
I want a C5 or C6 vette, but for now I'll take my trusty b234r with plans for a group 9 clutch and stage 4 ecu after tax time.
400+HP on stock internals is impressive.
Not as good as nissans' sr20det (500 or so stock internals) or the 2jz supra motors that IIRC hit 7-800hp stock bottom end.
Those kinda #'s are just dumb in FWD, so I think 300hp is good with 400hp being overkill. Now if I would just put a b234R in a nissan 240sx, then I'd try to see just what I could wring out of it.
in conclusion, reliability is how I would vote,
My 2 Saab's were just as reliable as my families 4 toyota's (though little electrical stuff started going after 300K on my 900T) so Saab's get a vote.
Honda and Toyota also deserve a vote.
