A couple years ago, I bought a used 9-5 from a dealer about 90 minutes north of Boston. My wife and I were there when the dealership opened, the place was clean, neat, and the cars were all nice. I had found the car on the internet as it was the only 5 speed 4 cyl red 9-5 with leather in the state on the used market at the time. We had some minor back and forth on the price and sales conditions that were easily worked out with sales manager approval.
He said, "let me check with the Sales Manager. We have a [condescending pause and emphasis] Woman sales manager". He must have either forgotten my wife was there or didn't understand how to keep his foot out of his mouth in the presence of women. I noted it, but my wife fumed and still likes to mock him to this day.
Another time, I went to dreher holloway in exeter NH with the hopes of finding a Jag x-type manual car when Jaguar was selling and leasing them for about $7000 off msrp. They didn't have one there, but they existed unsold at the port. The salesman didn't know to get those cars. Must have been his first weekend on the job or something. He didn't call during the week saying he could or couldn't get the car. Must have quit or something. I'd gone for a test drive and everything with him, he lost an easy customer who was knowledgeable about the car and ready to make an almost emotional decision.
