Most people meeting me peg me as about 10 years younger, too. Just lucky I guess. But attitude is everything. I refuse to be like some of the older guys I know who worry about their ailments and let age get the better of them. My best friend and I have the same attitude. When we bitch about aging it's that we don't heal as fast, which well and truly sucks, or have trouble staying in shape.
At Mt Sunapee in NH a couple winters back I happened to sit at a table at lunch with a bunch of guys, the youngest who was about 72. They all had mid-week senior citizen passes and skied 3-5 days a week. And they weren't just poking around. They skied the upper blue level and black diamond trails and moved right along. A lot of that is having the genes, but I think attitude is as big a part.
There are too many roads to drive, mountains to ski and rivers to kayak to let a few years get in the way. I rode the lift at Alta a few years back with a guy who was 86 or 88. He'd skied at Alta since the day it opened in something like 1938. He didn't ski fast any more, but he took the lift to the top and still made it down just fine. Attitude.
And, no, by brother-in-law's name is Glenn. See you at SOC?
