How is the subframe failing? Posted by Ari [Email] (#2847) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ari) on Fri, 8 Aug 2008 06:28:58 In Reply to: Re: Payload?, steve, Thu, 7 Aug 2008 11:43:16 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I understand the springs being very compressed, but the statement about the frame and tires failing is confusing. To me, failing of structure means bending and/or breaking. Is the frame breaking? Can you still open and close the doors? If you can't close the doors, then yes, the frame is distorting. Otherwise, no.
That weight is pretty much distributed over the rear wheels. When Saab, or any other manufacturer assumes the weight, they assume some of it is up front. You tend to put passengers into the front passenger seat before the rear. As you add weight over the rear axle, it is unweighting the front, so you'll get even more perceptible sag in the rear.
What is the aim of your question? It seemed to start out as the best way to load the car. It now seems that you think you have a defective car.
