I was told by a service manager who was told by a field engineer that the rear subframes are known to deform. That was why my car was completely out of spec in regard to rear alignment and ride height and why springs and shocks did little to fix the car. A new subframe restored the car to like new condition, but since the inability to properly supoprt loads still exists the subframe will fail again.
I have had tires blowout because of the same problem. Now that I know of the problem it is less likely to happen, but it has happened.
My question is simply why my car can't carry the specified payload?
There is no way Saab could claim on a wagon that they only thought there would be weight upfront.
As for unweighting the front, the weight balance is certainly shifting toward the rear as you load the rear of the car. However, it it seems clear that payload should be the usable load one can put in the car without damage as long as axle loads are not exceeded and that is not the case thus my claim that there must be a defect. It is also possible that there is no defect but that the specs are just wrong.
