Following your logic here....
My 2001 LPT's speedometer says my car will go 150mph. Fact.
"So clearly, one should be able to operate the car for unlimited time/distance without problems." per your post.
Everybody realizes this could never happen. It could possibly attain 150mph occasionally, but it would not do it everyday 24/7 for 60 months of ownership.
(I'm not really sure my car could even attain 150 mph....probably 140+mph as a real number...)
Example 2:
An HP printer says it has a monthly duty cycle of 5,000 pages.....but the recommended print volume is spec'd between 250-1,500 pages. It could perform 5,000 pages (perhaps) in ONE month....but BEST owership of the product is using it for between 250-1,500 pages.
