The Conti DWS you bought should be OK this winter, but depending on how many miles you put on them, they might not be good in more than a couple inches of snow next year. That's the nature of that tire design.
It's tough where you live (I assume MD) because you don't really get winter conditions very often, but you can still get nailed with a couple of bad storms.
Very few "all-seasons" are really meant for significant snow. Some work OK, but most don't, especially after they have 10K or 15K miles on them. The only ones I've found that do are Nokian WRs (now WR G2). They are great in snow but definitely don't have the summer dry/wet road performance of the Grand Touring tires (on wife's 9-5) or Ultra High Performance All Seasons (on my 9K) that I run in the summer.
