This may seem somewhat contrarian, but one of the reasons I purchased Saab was BECAUSE it was part of GM. I had only owned Chevrolet cars before switching to Saab in 1997, and felt more comfortable knowing that Saab was a GM company. I'm not saying that being part of GM helped or hurt Saab's reputation, but at least as far as this owner was concerned, it was a plus. And GM was more than honorable in addressing its responsibilities for the warranty issues that were prevalent in my launch model 2003 9-3. After those initial glitches were corrected, the car runs like a champ. I for one was sad to see GM drop Saab, but now that I know and am comfortable with Saab itself, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another when the time comes.
