We're at 1.25/litre here. That's about $4.75/US gal for regular.
And yet every day on the way to work (I travel the speed limit at 100kmh/62 mph with three people in the car) huge full size trucks and SUVs with one person on board blow by me at 120+. I catch up to them at the next stop though. I did the calculation for my commute - if I could maintain 20% over the speed limit for my 40km trip I'd save about 9 minutes. Yay.
I bet they could save 20% on fuel just by using basic gas conserving driving habits. Apparently gas is not yet expensive enough to force even that small accomodation.
