It is safe to say many Saab folks appreciate uniquely engineered vehicles. This board sometimes has threads on what car to buy after one's last Saab, or what electric vehicle may be realistic. Here is an idea along those lines.
We all know the internet has become a wonderful resource for keeping a Saab going, thanks to knowledge (Saabnet) and parts (eBay and others). So keep your existing Saab going for as long as possible, until you can put your foot through the floor board. If perhaps prodded by a significant other that that is untenable, there are plenty of fine vehicles to get you by for the next 3 years for about 250 a month via lease. No need to go luxury--the 30k-plus realm is growing increasingly vacuous by many strides made at the 20k price point. Lease even if it is not your normal thing. The pace of technological change argues for lease. You still control things with a lease. Our lease on a Forester just came up. Purchased out of lease, then learned car was worth 4k more in the open market.
While keeping that old Saab going, or getting by with inexpensive lease, use all that taste for the different inspired by Saab to check out the likes of Elio, Persu's Fly the Road vehicle, or even Organic Transit's unique bike arrangement. In the end, that type of creativity may be the next stop for a Saab owner.
