the GM/Opel 2.0T Ecotech from 2006 started out as 250hp/260trq and has a GM Performance tune warrantible to 290hp/340 trq or about as much torque as the Corvette at the time. Saab never offered anything close.
That same engine, same as produced today, is good for about 450-500 horsepower without opening it and changing pistons and valvetrain based on a quick google search. So detuning it 150 horsepower for the street should be no problem. With that type of power level things start to break like CV drive shafts and gearbox casings. Your your side road passes from 50+ mph to triple digits would be a breeze compared to the drag strip abuse.
