FWD vs RWD is irrelevant, because the concern is for braking, not accelerating. If you can't get traction when accelerating, it's an inconvenience. If you can't get traction when braking, it's a safety concern. When you brake and start to lose grip, the better tires will be at the rear, either because that's where you mounted them or because the back end has swung around and now you're facing the wrong way and dragging those good tires behind you.
