I can tell ya what *I'm* like...my needs are for a car that can do
it all- fun to drive, carry me in safety, have room to haul stuff.
My first Saab was purchased in 1987, an '85 900 Turbo 16V hatch. A
hatchback design fits my uses perfectly, allowing ease of access &
that feature still appeals to me! Another positive Saab point was
a tall driver could fit comfortably- I'm 6'3". I consider myself a
pretty open-minded person (don't we all?) and Saab's unusual styl-
ing was never really a factor, they looked like they did for good
reason! The cars made sense to me, from the turbocharging to that
logical cockpit layout- function first! I'm single, 43, enjoy mou-
ntainbiking and motorcycling riding (I own an Aprilia RSV Mille, a
free thinker's sportbike!) and put about 15-20K annual miles on my
car. Presently I drive a '98 900S Turbo 3-dr which is good value
for the money (it's my only automobile). As far as advertising go-
es, that makes almost no difference to me personally- if it sells
more Saabs, GREAT. The present ad campaign "Saab vs ..." is rather
odd, like they're targeting students of philosophy, but I'm merely
a high school graduate so...one final point: I've got a fantastic
local dealer, Tor's Saab in Lompoc, California, and that's someth-
ing of great value to me. Swedish is spoken there, literally! It'd
be tough taking a car anywhere else, they're like family.
