Well, here's some stats...
-Born in Feb. 1969, Batavia, NY
-Parents bought 1st new SAAB(96) in 1972
-parents bought 2nd new SAAB(99) in 1978
-learned to drive in 1986 (in '72 saab 96)
-1st speeding ticket in 1986 (in '78 saab 99)
-got used '80 900GLi for college
-bought used '83 900T when '80 900GLi was T-boned in drivers side(totalled, no injuries)
-bought used '86 900T when '83 developed several problems at 230,000 miles
-bought used '86 base model 4-door when '86 900T transmission failed at 205,000 miles
-bought used '86 900 SPG when '86 base trans. failed at 175,000 miles
-SPG now has 190,000 miles and MANY spare parts from previous 900's
-no siblings, spouse(yet), or offspring(need spouse 1st)
-studied physics and electronics in college
-currently electronics technician, work for ski industry
-avid skiier, snowboarder, mountain biker; I've noticed that you can usually find a bunch of old saabs in the parking lot of Mad River Glen, the Tuckerman's ravine parking area, and other places where the skiing is more important than the "resort area"
-play a mean game of backgammon, typically enjoyed with Sierra Nevada pale ale (unless the celebration ale is in season)
-listen to Frank Zappa, Phish, Bela Fleck, King Crimson, Radiohead, etc. in the car (these were the last CD's to play in the car, barely a starting point for my diverse musical tastes)
-I don't subscribe to stereotypes. you could only tell that I'm a SAAB guy if I wear my SAAB t-shirt (and you'd have to be able to recognize the front end of a mid-60's 96 to know it's a SAAB t-shirt)
-Prefer to DIY. I've assembled bicycles and computers, brewed beer (a good friend of mine is a professional brewer), and recorded concerts (sometimes with permission.) I'll be replacing my ball joints this weekend.
-I've developed a taste for extremely hot peppers.
-I can't remember seeing a SAAB TV commercial in a really long time. I seem to remember one from a few years back featuring a '50's-'60's era saab romping around through a forest. Most print ads have struck me as condescending and snobbish.
-Have I answered the questions?
