I think I would like to major in political science or government, since history is my favorite subject, and I always like to get into fights about politics. I'm definitely a linguist, and not a mathematician. I don't want to stray THAT far from home (which is Boston). So far I have toured Williams, Amherst, Middlebury, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Johns Hopkins, UVA, William & Mary, Georgetown, Colby, Bowdoin and Bates. I really liked Georgetown, however it is hard to get into. I also like Bowdoin, because my family has a summer cottage about 20 minutes drive from there, so it is already like a second home to me. I feel that UVA is a bit on the large side for me, coming from a high school of 2200, I know what it is to be just one of the crowd, and I don't think I want that again necessarily. A friend of my grandmother's who went to Dartmouth like 800 years ago has some pull there, and I definitely wouldn't balk at a Dartmouth education. It's a big decision...and I have come to the conclusion that applying to college is more or less a crapshoot. I maintain that they tape all the applications to a wall, throw darts, and whoevers application catches a dart gets in. I know people that have gotten into Harvard and been denied at UVA. I guess I just have to find alot of places on the common application and throw a bunch of applications around.
