The burn off phase that Jak mentioned is probably enough to eliminate any oil that does get through, as long as it's not too frequent then there probably will be a cumulative affect.
The statement that K&N put out makes me think there might be a problem with certain type sensors, It would appear that the saabs don't suffer from this, there must be 1000's of K&N's on saabs.
That being said... I just canceled my K&N order, I think I'll stick with paper for now. The paper may be a little more restrictive but there won't be any issues about particles or oil contamination; although the stock filter I have has a terribly restrictive looking metal grid on the inside, Now I'm going have to find the least restrictive paper filter... The fun never ends!!
