Season's Greetings,
Assuming it's a 4 cyl variant;
What I would do in your case, get a multimeter and ring two wires to the ECU with battery disconnected. They feed right into the ECU as per schematic with 1 junction J17 on wire #1
While checking for continuity on both wires leading to the ECU, I would jiggle wire harness from temp sensor plug all the way to ECU plug checking for open circuit.
In a schematic attached bellow and hopefully it would be displayed:
Component 202 is your temp sensor
Component 589 is your ECU
Thus,
Ring/measure continuity 1 to 39 and 2 to 22
If all checks out and you don't have an open circuit, then issue could be the temp sensor itself and brand new temp sensor being faulty.
Cheers, Ro
