Went home for lunch, and then back to work. Coming back to work, I noticed that the gauge would only get to about the 1/4 mark. I let it idle in the parking lot, and it started to rise. Less than 5 minutes later and it was around the 3/8 mark, and then started to drop. One of the fans had kicked on and dropped it back to about 1/4 mark.
Temp's only in the mid 30's.
So even though the temp gauge is reading below normal operating temp, the car thinks that it needs to bring on the cooling fan. Is there another temp sensor controlling it? IF so, then I might think that the thermostat is working properly, and there's still a problem with the sensor for the gauge. IF not (which seems more likely), then IF the fan didn't come on during the drive back, perhaps the 'stat is bad, AND there's a sensor problem.
The gauge should around 1/2, right?
