One more DIC failure

My good friend, he and his wife driving nothing but Saabs for 30 years +, had a direct ignition cassette failure. 2000 9-5 Base wagon, standard. 59000 miles. They are pretty disgusted. They feel lucky that it happened in their drive way, just at the end of a long, high speed trip. It was towed to the dealer, and neither the dealer, nor says the dealer, Saab would do anything but charge full retail for the failure. They have always bought Saabs for safety. (Several accidents where they came out unharmed, the last just one month ago in one of their old C900's, their last.) They do not see the cassette failure as anything but dangerous, and they are now talking about never buying another Saab. VW woke up and heard the music, and voluntarily changed the direct ignition modules on all of their turbocharged engines. One wonders when GM its Saab division will do the same. There is a lot of ill will being created out here. Any business person will tell that a bad incident is more damaging than a good.
