Well, when my DI failed, the flatbed rolled into the dealer, I walked back to the service department, said to the service writer "it stalled out in the middle of Rt. 1," and he said "we'll have you out of here in a couple minutes." Then one service writer went to get a new DI while the other went to look at the car.
There was a post here recently where a local mechanic with an excellent reputation (non-Saab) looked at a car with a fried DI and had no idea what the problem was. The owner then called the dealer who diagnosed the DI over the phone.
With all due respect, from the perspective of a first time Saab owner, if you don't think this is a unique and serious problem, you're kidding yourselves. If Saab addressed this and other problems (eg, turbo) squarely, maybe they'd sell a few more cars and wouldn't have to pay peiople $7k to take the cars off the lots.
