You are quite right pointing out that breakdowns are not exclusive to Saabs. Electronics are truly the Achilles' heel of the modern automobile. Mercedes took such a ride downhill on the reliability ladder, that the CEO of the company ordered the new cars to have less electronic gismos. They also have been compensating the owners of the faulty cars, even buying them back. That's the difference with GM. Merc publicly admitted they had a problem and took actions to resolve it. I would like to hear Rick Wagoneer (not sure of spelling) or Bob Lutz talk about the real reasons they are loosing market shares year after year. It's not just a case of using better soft touch materials inside the cars etc.
