I agree with the concept but don't quite agree with your logic. Any parts that are replaced, whether during "routine maintenance" or not, will show up on your bill. Nothing is free, you pay either way. I've been stranded by a dead fuel pump, two dead batteries, a failed slave cylinder, a dead DI, just to name a few (all in my former 9000, and all without warning). And Saabs aren't any different in that regard than other makes of cars, I have a list just as long for the Acuras we've owned. If people are so worried about the DI, then carry a spare. I don't. But I will get AAA again after my warranty is up ;-)
