1992 900 Turbo 209,850
Intermittent symtons began two weeks ago...
1. The antilock light on start up wouldn't go out. This happened after parking on an incline. Hard braking doesn't clear it but shutting down Sabby and restarting on level ground does. A few days ago...
2. I lost brake pressure completely on a hard emergency stop (to get a coffee I had to make a quick right turn with heavy breaking to make Mickey D's lot). The anti break light came on with loss of pressure. Symptoms were momentary as pressure restored on its own without pumping. No other break issues since. The front L&R wheel speed sensors and ABS accumulator were replaced two years ago (used).
About an hour after the coffee rally ride...
3. Clutch pedal travel limited to a couple inches above carpet. Intermittent symptoms so far are no first gear from stop or incline unless I hit another gear first. Reverse is a grinder. I can go through all gears smoothly with engine off and no clutch.
I have no fluid leaks in cockpit or around master/slave cylinders that I can see. No loss of fluid in the reservoir that I can tell. I've replaced both cylinders (used) in last 3 years due to leaks. This clutch feels nothing like that. I have a brand new clutch and rebuilt transmission, both of which have less then 8,000 miles on them. I am on a hiking/camping trip and only have my emergency tool kit and finances are limited so I'm not looking to throw parts at Saaby.
I thought I'd bleed the hydraulic system... A bicycle shop gave me a tire tube but I don't have a pump. Also I can't get the dang transmission "dipstick" to break free to check fluid level. :-( It's not a reverse thread right?
Disclaimer: I'm driving on a lot of dirt roads this summer (motor mount?) and I was rear ended 6 months ago (drivetrain alignment?). There were no issues at the time other then the hatch door closing funny as a result. No water leaks, other doors open close fine, tranny fine etc etc.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
