I'm glad I don't have to make the decisions Bob Lutz is facing. Profits are bottoming out, and union wages and rising health care costs make it very difficult to compete. Many of the foreign brands that have set up shop here don't face these problems, or at least to the same extent.
If I had to bet, I would say Buick would be the likely candidate for elimination, but time will tell.
An organization the size of GM faces management challenges that smaller companies will probably never appreciate.
