GM already has cars being manufactured in other countries and shipped all over the world. If the labor costs are so prohibitive here in the States, why don't they move all manufacturing to China, like every other industry appears to be doing?
GM is going to be getting engines from Australia (Holden), the Pontiac G6 is already made in Australia by Holden. The Saab will be manufactured in Germany. Ford has cars manufactured in Central and South America.
What's really keeping the American-built cars manufactured in America? Perceived quality over what's manufactured in China? Give them a few more years and like Japan and Korea before them I think they'll start learning to make quality products, rather than simply less-expensive ones.
