Sears was not concerned with the propulsion of the vehicle, not going anywhere is very safe. If you put the snows on the front of a FWD car and hit the brakes the cars spins, every time, or try rounding a corner at moderate speed, another spin. Definitely seriously unsafe and begging for a lawsuit. Explain to me why a spin is preferred to slowing in a straight line. Spin, no chance to recover no control, vs many chances to recover when you are still going forward.
The whole thing is a non-issue when driving reasonably, it's the unexpected blow out or loss of traction that you're guarding against.
Discussions like this don't go on forever, the courts have ruled on this issue more than once, that's why tire shops insist, good tires on the front is indefensible in court. Good tires to the front is a cause of accidents.
