Hmmm. We're assuming that car distribution in the future will be much like it is now, only smaller.
Looking through the mist it is likely that Internet sales could become the standard way to buy a new car. There should also be ample showroom space for buyers who want to kick tires before buying.
Saab could offer buyers an interesting niche -- a Mercedes for people who don't want to seem slavishly acquisitive but do want a sensible car with a bit o' fun.
Visit the TTAC site which has an article on Dr. Z's plan for Mercedes. It's back to the solid, over-engineered, three box vehicle that is "enough" and not "too much" in any aspect.
I'd think there would also be a place in the future market for a solid, powerful, safe, durable, economical, 4 cyl, turbo, fun-to-drive, distinctive, Swedish sedan.
Could be an entry to upscale Euro. Could be a nice alternative to Japanese.
But Saab would benefit from marketing that isn't wedded to the "Born from Jets" theme and looks ahead to what the market will be like in the not too distant future.
Someone could make this interesting if they don't begin by looking at it as a problem.
