Technically, coasting downhill in neutral is illegal in many states.
Now Saabs are programmed to disallow the fog lights when headlights are turned off. That's done ONLY because it's an illegal combination of lighting in some states.
So... Maybe the tranny is similarly programmed to disallow shifting into neutral when the car is already traveling above XXX speed.
