We've all heard it before, ad nauseum. It was interesting to learn about for the first time in a college management or stats class but it is way beyond tired now. If Japanese products were so great then there wouldn't be any that failed or were poorly designed... like rampaging, push-button Lexus cars! There's a control chart variance for you!!
I've had plenty of Sony and Panasonic products crap out on me and the most costly-with-repairs cars I've owned outside my Saab have been Toyota and Nissan. And, guess what? The Big Three have built plenty of what Americans want - roomy SUVs and fast, V8 powered cars and trucks. And guess what again? They are well built, solidly built, quiet inside and go for hundreds of thousands miles with few repairs. I own some. Quit living in the past era of Vega/Pinto/Citation/Volare.
