Many Euro cars have a certain je ne sais quoi that just makes them feel better. It's no one thing, just a general feel that the domestic and Asian makes lack. To me, it's a connected to the road feeling, that the car is an extension of my senses.
Whatever it is, this "feel" doesn't matter to everyone. IMO many, perhaps even most, Audi, BMW and Merc buyers are looking more for status symbols or fashion statements than anything else. The average domestic/Asian car buyer probably doesn't even notice the difference in how these cars feel, or simply equates it to the Euro car being more expensive.
Asian and domestics have improved a lot in ride, handling, etc., and some are even fun to drive and offer up very decent performance. They are generally cheaper to buy and own than the Euro makes, so some of it comes down to how much one is willing to pay for that je ne sais quoi.
