I've been through this before ( being lazy and late for work ). Scraping windows, headlights, door handles...and this is JUST ice.
Now I use a car cover with a lockable through-tether to keep it on the car in windstorms.
Best 60 buckaroooooos I've spent in a long time. Highly recommend it.

Even the cheap car covers will do for winter only ( salt, sand EVERYWHERE ).

Also there is the California Pop Top that covers the roof and all windows only.
