It increases weight capacity which is something to pay attention to. A lot of cheaper RV's have very little in the way of spare capacity and don't factor in full water tanks (if you're roughing it), food, clothes, gear and people. As result they are typically way over gross weight and down right dangerous. If you see one with a tag axle (un-driven, single wheel per side) you can usually bet they're paying attention to gross weight. You don't usually see them on gas powered units under 30 feet. The dual axle set up on the GMC's for interior space--they have single wheel per side which intrudes less than a single duelly. Stick with the higher quality stuff--you want the heavy duty big truck tires and suspensions that go with them.
